Air Conditioning a Subway Restaurant in Central London
Air Conditioning a Subway Restaurant in Central London using Cool You’s entirely internal water-cooled systems. The new Subway Restaurant, located close to London’s Leicester Square, is in a listed building.
Cool You worked with the new franchisee and their shopfitters to ensure that the building met Subway’s exacting standards. The task was to ensure maximum customer comfort and help meet food hygiene regulations.
As with many listed buildings, there was no place to fit an external condenser box. Also, no holes could be drilled through external walls. We specified and installed our revolutionary water-cooled system to air condition the customer area and the food preparation and storage zones.
A 7kw ceiling cassette was fitted in the customer area. A 3.5kw high wall unit was fitted in the kitchen/food preparation area. The two water condenser units were installed in the store’s storage area near the kitchen. They were plumbed into the cold and wastewater systems to power them.
This is one of a growing number of projects that Cool You has undertaken in listed commercial buildings where more conventional air conditioning systems were impossible to install due to planning restrictions.
No planning permission was required to fit our water-cooled air conditioning system, although the property owner was consulted at all stages for approval.
For this project, we installed:
2 x Water Condenser Units
1 x High Wall Units
1 x Ceiling Cassette
