Is Air Conditioning an Apartment in a Listed Building on Gloucester Road possible?
We are often asked: Is air conditioning an apartment in a Listed Building on Gloucester Road possible? This apartment is in a prominent period building on the corner of Stanhope Gardens and Gloucester Road. Two quite busy and noisy roads. The property benefits from a double-aspect reception room, which is impressive but also gets warm. However, it is a listed building.
The owner wished to install air conditioning, but they could not fit a traditional external condenser box in the Queensgate Conservation Area (an area of special architectural and historical interest) or drill any holes in the building’s external walls.
The client’s desire to air-condition two bedrooms led to the discovery of our unique solution, an internal condenser air conditioning system. This innovative system, the best available, allows for complete air conditioning within the apartment, offering a solution that is both effective and unique in its approach.
Two water-cooled internal condensers were installed in the kitchen as part of the installation. These condensers and the quiet and energy-efficient DC inverter high wall units fitted in both bedrooms ensure your comfort is not at the expense of the environment.
Our engineers connected the refrigerant pipework between the condenser and the room units with minimal disruption. The pipework was boxed in to match the decoration, ensuring a seamless and unobtrusive installation process that respects the integrity of the listed building.
No planning permission was required to install our air conditioning systems in this apartment, providing the property owner with a stress-free and straightforward installation process.
For this project, we installed:
2 x 3.5kw DC Inverter water cooled condensers
Master bedroom
1 x 3.5kw (12,000btu) DC Inverter high wall unit
Bedroom Two
1 x 3.5kw (12,000btu) DC Inverter high wall unit
