Air Conditioning a Professional Audio Studio in a Conservation Area
Our client was interested in air conditioning a professional audio studio in a London Conservation Area. The premises, a listed two-floor facility located in the heart of Fitzrovia, are getting busier and busier. Professional customers visit their audio demonstration area in the basement showroom/studio daily. With more people and an increasing range of audio equipment to demonstrate, the area was getting very hot and uncomfortable. They urgently needed air conditioning.
Upon assessment, it became clear that a standard air conditioning system would not suffice. This was due to the unique planning constraints of the East Marylebone and Charlotte Street West Conservation areas, where the building is situated. The restrictions ruled out any possibility of an external condenser or holes to the outside.
Installing air conditioning in a professional audio studio
Our solution was to implement our unique energy-efficient DC inverter water-cooled internal condenser air conditioning system, designed to keep everything within the building, making it the only viable option.
A water-cooled condenser was installed at a low level in a vault beside the kitchen and bathroom. This serviced an energy-efficient, whisper-quiet high wall unit in the audio demo area.
Our technical team connected the refrigerant pipework between the condenser and the room unit through an adjacent wall, ensuring minimal disruption to the decor. All pipework was concealed, preserving the space’s aesthetic appeal and the users’ comfort.

No planning permission was required to fit our air conditioning system in this listed property.
