Joseph Fine Art, New Oxford Street, Bloomsbury
See how we tackled installing fully internal air con in a London art gallery in a conservation area
Our client’s premises, situated on New Oxford Street located in the heart of the Bloomsbury Conservation Area in a classically designed terrace built in 1889. Joseph Fine Art, a very busy and successful contemporary gallery, urgently needed air conditioning.
It was soon established that a conventional air conditioning system would not be appropriate due to planning constraints. No outside condenser or external holes to the outside were possible.
The only solution available was our energy-efficient DC inverter water-cooled internal condenser air conditioning system that allows everything to be retained within the building.
For this installation, a water-cooled condenser was installed in the staff kitchen in the basement. This serviced an energy-efficient, quiet, DC inverter 4-way ceiling cassette unit mounted at a high level in a central position within the ground floor gallery area.
Our technical team could discretely connect the refrigerant pipework between the condenser and the room unit. There was minimal disruption to trading during the installation that was completed in one day.
This is one of several light commercial air conditioning projects we have undertaken recently within listed commercial buildings in London.
No planning permission was required to fit our air conditioning systems on these premises.
For this project, we installed:
1 x 7kw (24000 Btu) water-cooled DC Inverter condenser
Serving:
Main Gallery Space: 1 x 7kw (24000 Btu) 4-way ceiling cassette unit
