What is the cost of running air conditioning in flats? This is one of the key questions we always get asked. All our clients want to know about running costs.
It’s very difficult to give an exact cost, but our managing director, Savva, does his best to talk you through it in this recent YouTube video:
There are so many factors that affect your space, which ultimately affect the cost.
First, there’s solar gain. How much heat is coming in through the windows? Are you in the direct path of the sun? If you are, you’ll have to run the system more often.
Second, you have to consider the occupancy levels. The more people in space, the more heat is generated. Typically, we generate 100 watts per person at rest. To give you an idea of how much that is, if you had ten people around for a party, that’s 1,000 watts of heat generated per hour.
Third, what is the room being used for? If it’s the kitchen or open-plan living area, the heat from the kitchen will generate loads of heat for the rest of the room.
The fourth factor is the size of the room. The larger the space, the more cooling is required.
Compared to a fan heater in the winter, our cooling systems are cheaper to run. However, it is hard to precisely say the cost depends on all of the above. However, we can say that our air conditioning for flats is the most energy-efficient available, and we will answer all questions honestly once we know your likely cooling requirements.
