Hidden Ducted Air Conditioning in Charles Street, Mayfair
The owners of this substantial apartment faced a unique challenge-they desired a hidden ducted air conditioning system as part of a complete refurbishment. However, their apartment is located in the heart of the Westminster Conservation Area. This meant they had to find a solution that met their needs and conformed to strict planning laws.
Our selection for this project was a testament to our unparalleled expertise in air conditioning solutions for apartments in conservation areas.
The owners entrusted us with their unique requirements, knowing we were the best in the field. They approached us for this project because of our proven track record in air conditioning listed buildings and apartments within conservation areas. We worked closely with the client, their interior designer, and contractors to find a solution that would air-condition the master bedroom, large living room/kitchen, and library despite planning restrictions.
One of the client’s main requirements was to hide the whole air conditioning system.
Hidden Ducted Air Conditioning – To achieve this, we specified a unique built-to-order:
- 3.85 kW ducted fan coil for the master bedroom
- Two 7kw ducted fan coils for the large living room/kitchen
- 3.85 kW ducted fan coil for the library
These were all connected to individual internal water-cooled condensers. All grills were custom-made with our advice on optimum airflow and designed to blend in with the overall decorative scheme.
Working with the client’s contractors, our installation team could site the internal condensing and ducted fan coil units in the new ceiling void. During the first stage, we routed all pipework so the builder could close-in the system. The second stage involved installing the units and commissioning and testing the system.
Our team planned the installation in detail to work within the contractor’s schedule. The four ducted air conditioning systems were fully installed in two stages over five working days. After the renovation, we returned to make one final test of all systems before the client handover.
This is one of a growing number of projects that Cool You has undertaken in listed buildings and properties in conservation areas, where more conventional air conditioning systems were impossible to install due to planning restrictions.
